Catch of the Day
Mermaids have always captured my imagination and the bubble print fabric made me think of a mermaid’s tail so I made her the focus with the fish print fabric behind. I wanted the fish to be more obvious so I appliquéd some around the quilt, stuffing them to make them stand out more. My daughters were scandalised that the mermaid didn’t have a top on so I sewed a bikini top using a blanket stitch in gold fabric and thought it so pretty I added a bit more gold on the eyelashes and the fish etc. I added a bit more detail with the bead necklace and hair adornment. I added the gold mesh net and named the quilt “Catch of the Day”
