The Kona COTY Quilt Challenge!

The Kona COTY Quilt Challenge!

I used to run mini quilt challenges many years ago either where participants were required to use a particular fabric, or in the case of a joint quilt challenge I ran with my mother at The Contented Cat, a design challenge using a simple 4" block.

I think it's about time I ran another one - enter the Kona Colour of the Year Quilt Challenge 2024!

I've actually been meaning to run this challenge for quite a while now but life has kept getting in the way. But I've decided 2024 is the year! I was inspired to create a mini quilt challenge around the Kona Colour of the Year after Robert Kaufman Fabrics showcased one using their first Kona COTY back in 2016.

Don't they all look great together? The Kona COTY then was that bright yellow which was called Highlight.

But what is the Kona Colour of the Year exactly?

Each year Robert Kaufman create a new Kona Cotton colour and it is usually only available for ordering that year, and then it is retired. They have recently released their COTY for 2024 and it is called Julep; a refreshing light green.

And what's the challenge?

I'm challenging quilters to make a small quilt (24" square) using Julep plus any number of additional solids (no prints). The closing date is 31 October 2024. The minimum purchase of the COTY is a fat quarter, which you can buy here. Full details of the rules and entry form can be downloaded here

Did I mention prizes? The winning quilt will win a bundle of Kona Cotton fabrics and a voucher for £25 to spend with me at The Crafty Quilter.

I can't wait to see what people create!
